i kinda wanna take a break from the music a bit
to talk about, um, a friend of mine, um
yeah, he was known to most as isaiah kindle
but, his close friends knew him as “salem”
“salem mclaren” that was his, musical alias
and also just his nickname i guess, um
he had an incredible mind
he put me on to so much music
he put me on to jamiroquai, which is my favorite band right now
put me on to stevie, minnie ripperton, leon ware
basically this album i’m making would not have been made
without his brain
and unfortunately, it’s almost been about a year since we lost him
and at the time it was naturally hard to get over
i mean, i’vе never expеrienced death that close to me
but, over time it taught me how important it is to, i guess stay here
’cause for a good chunk of time i kind of planned on
on leaving, just leaving it all behind but
i don’t know it just kind of, kind of reset everything
it changed everything
he’s just, he was that important to us you know
and i kind of wanna, showcase a composition i made in his honor
if i speak a bit through it, um, if i do something musical with it
with my voice, i’ll let that happen
but, if i say nothing
i’m actually saying a lot
