under my thesis advisor’s guidance
i submit this alb-m to fulfill the requirements
of my honours undergraduate degree
in equity studies and cultural theory

among the topics discussed herein are:
how celebrities perpetuate racism
how feminism has been coopted by whiteness
and how we should start a conversation to right this

i chose to encode my research within
the medium of rhyme and rhythm
and i chose this medium, because i’m hoping
to escape from western ways of knowing

i admit that my ident-ty is
tainted by my privilege
because although i’m a woman, i’m identified as white
so i should check this privilege with all of my might

and by checking this privilege i’ve earned a degree
from this prestigious university
which occupies the land that was taken
from the anishnawbe and haudenosaunee nations

but despite this fact, it would be totally great
if this alb-m could help me to graduate
so i present: my thesis in rhyme and verse!
