until they came to a wooden bridge
where a dragon’s skull stood impaled

angelique rode up to the skull
reached in its mouth and pulled out a fang
she cast it onto the ground
as a magical spell she sang

from the ground there emerged
a demon named zambardo
serpents’ scales covered his
body from head to toe
swinging a spiked club
he obstructed orlando’s path
as angelique and sacripant
rode across the bridge

zambardo swung his club
at orlando’s shield
sparks flew from the impact
orlando didn’t yield
he struck back with durindan
zambardo he did gash
then the two exchanged blows
for hours they did clash

finally orlando
struck zambardo
swinging durindan
harder than before
he lopped off the head
of zambardo
from his neck spouted
oozing green gore

leaving zambardo’s corpse
he crossed the bridge
hoping to catch up with
the girl he did seek
when he reached the other side
she was long gone
sacripant had escaped with
the sweet angelique
