in making a piece of art
any piece of art
i like the inner workings
of what brings a piece of art to life
be it music
be it a poem
be it a dance
a song
whatever
i just love the process
you have to love the process
because as an artist
as a creative person
you spend most of your time
in the process
of the making of the thing
the thing is what people see at the end
the end point of where the artist
the creator
abandons the piece of art
because they say
the work is never done
the artist just abandons it basically
or calls it an end
when they could actually go on
and sculpt the ear a little bit more
shape the chest a little bit more
or whatever it is they’re making
or add another brush stroke
or a little bit darker here
or raise the saturation there
in a film
or you could go on forever
playing
fiddling
and tweaking a piece of art
making it great
and as perfect as possible
but it’s never really finished
the artist just decides
it’s good enough
