he faintly hears the commotion outside. the noise fades into the sound of children

int. camp parking lot- day

the boy opens his eyes to a white bus. he’s surrounded by kids wearing orange camp t-shirts, they’re saying goodbye to each other

it’s over, i guess. i’m getting on the bus, i’m leaving…

the boy notices a girl with curly brown hair. he feels nothing towards her. he remembers who gave him real ‘purpose’

the girl with curly brown hair knocks on the window for the boy’s attention. he walks onto the bus laughing about the worst guys, leaving his father’s urn and remembering her pink toes

the aisle seemed longer than he remembered

the boy was walking for years, maybe decades. he grew as he walked, finding a seat next to the girl with curly brown hair
