last night i went to the apple store. upon arrival i instantly noticed a family of four, 3 young boys and 1 mother. disregarding the image, i went on my way to get headphones. after picking out the cheapest kind available i make my way towards the line. somehow, i manage to find myself waiting behind the family. the mother goes to pay for all her items, a macbook, an iphone, an ipod nano, and a pair of the same headphones i had picked myself. suddenly, i hear the cashier say “i’m sorry ma’am, but your card has been declined.” she looks around in total disbelief. she tries to explain herself, saying “i think there’s been some kind of mistake. i know i didn’t completely get my savings account drained after the divorce..” i look down into my own wallet to see if i could help, but only see a $20. i interrupt and say “excuse me. i couldn’t help but overhear about your card. i think i have something that’ll do the trick..” i reach over the counter and swipe my credit card. the cashier, mother, and 3 kids look at me in disbelief as pure adrenaline fills my body. still staring at me, jaws dropped, i rip out the receipt right as it prints out. i say “have a goodnight”. as i start to turn to walk away, one of the boys yells to me “thanks mister!” i look back and say “have a merry christmas, son.” lmao jk that didn’t happen
