on norfolk’s dark lanes that all might see
the light of holy galilee

a vision of mary she did espy
on wings of prayer her soul did fly
and there within the holy home
she saw young mary all alone

within that room the light did flood
and there, from heaven, gabriel stood
he said, ‘thou daughter, will you bear
the son of god _ pray declare?’

so mary thought & mary frowned –
‘emmanuel of high renown!’
