that only lasted about a year or two
after that i never really talked to you, never saw you around
until last year when i started putting music out
you went out of your way to text my brother
just to tell me good job or something like that

and from then on, i would notice the occasional like or post on my fan page on facebook

when i heard the news that morning, i was speechless
i thought i saw you the day before around town

but i still can’t grasp that you’re gone

i may not have known you as well as a lot of people
and i really wish i did
but you were always nice to me, and that’s all i really remember
that and a few faded memories
from years ago. it doesn’t really matter how well i knew you
because what really matters to me right now is that i was lucky enough to know you at all
