once stood a giant statue to the world a legacy
it was cast of molten bronze
a hundred and five feet high
took twelve long years to construct
twelve seconds for it to die

it hailed the ships of greece
and those of the turkish fleet
it shined in the suns light all work it would greet

made like the god apollo
a colossus man of greed
a structure which was mighty
no thunderstorm didn’t heed

inland and in on the ocean
this monstrous titan was known
wrote of in many scriptures
his name was very well sewn

they said he’s last forеver
till the end of all timе
an eternal monument
a sight for all mankind

but one day the earth crumbled
it began to crack and shake
the water rose up parted
colossus fell in the wake
in the grave beneath the bay
for many long years he lay
till some scavenger vessel took his pieces to trade
