dregs one – letter to the president كلمات اغاني

dear mr. president

so how ya doin’ barack?
i see ya on the news a lot
with a sl!ck smile and some smooth talk
sayin’ everything is goin’ good exactly how it should
i haven’t got that healthcare yet
meanwhile, my grandma’s goin’ in debt
tryna pay these medical bills off
but hey, all of us in debt, real talk
so uhhh…
how’s that recession going?
it’s been about three years what kinda options you explorin’?
i know you’re tryin’ hard – but that lil’ bail out money you sent ain’t really payin’ off
we all need jobs cuz they layin’ people off – outsourcin’ all the work to all the employees abroad
so just keep that in mind
i know you’re busy
but whenever you got time can you put that n0bel peace prize to use?
and maybe bring home the troops – i’m just sayin’ though
they blew up the twin towers 10 years ago
the mothers of our soldiers shouldn’t have to shed tears no mo’
oh yeah, congrats on k!llin’ osama
but how come we ain’t seen the body, obama?
how many bodies you got locked up in guantana-mo bay?
you said you wanted it closed in 0-8
the patriot act ain’t goin’ away
matter fact, lots of thangs from your campaign ain’t changed
why’d you send the national gaurds to defend the border?
to keep mexican immigrants from crossin’ over?
they treat latinos like criminals in arizona
you think the president would’ve spoke up on it
cuz you the very first black man
well half white and african who ever ran for presidential office and got it
inspired the country with the whole world watchin’
brought hope to black folks like malcolm and martin
on the strength of your skin color and an empty promise
but for black folks the unemployment rate’s the highest
like the drop out rate and neighborhood violence
barack i gotta ask, why couldn’t you have just spoken up for oscar grant?!
you think the very first black leader would’ve stepped up and freed mumia
or spoke on racism and the fact it still existed
from the schools to the streets to the prison – but you ain’t done sh-t man
except give the world false hope
got me feelin’ like why the f-ck i even vote
cuz every president we ever had been the same
lyin’ to the people and playin’ the game
i know you ain’t to blame cuz you just a puppet
but for a second i thought that you might’ve really stood for something
but you didn’t so this letter has an unhappy ending
when i l!ck the envelope stamp it and send it

sincerely
signed by dregs one
a man takin’ a stand against the lie you’ve become
