voice: freeze!

gunshots

the boy and dude 2 look at each other
the boy looks down. he sees his own reflection in a pool of blood. the blood isn’t his. dude 2 hits the ground

thud

shaking in fear, the boy walks out into the road, hands raised above his head in surrender

int. rental home – morning – one year later

——-[play song “centipede” at this point]——-

the pitch darkness of what appears to be a bedroom is broken by a fl!ckering light. it is difficult to make out what is happening but the the boy is being beaten by a kidnapper in a what appears to be a tuxedo

eventually, the lights stop fl!ckering and the small bedroom is lit up. an unmistakable look of insanity is present in the kidnapper’s eyes. he bends down and whispers into the boy’s ear

the kidnapper: her dreams. her desires. if you don’t find out hers then we will never be able to fulfill ours. and you’ll never get a chance to pursue yours

the boy is thrown on to the bed, and the kidnapper leaves abruptly

the boy’s facial hair appears to look even worse than usual. he lays there for two minutes until his eyelids begin to twitch and he enters a state somewhere between consciousness and unconsciousness

he continues to lie in this state for another twenty seconds, until he is woken by a female figure knocking on the window. her features are difficult to make out as the blinds are an opaque orange color. the boy recognizes her and climbs out of bed, shirtless, ready to fulfill his duty
