i always hate how we all slept in the same old room
and pops would argue with my moms about my grades in school

to be completely honest with you i don’t know what it was
that made me want to feel like pops when he was drinking and buzzed
maybe it was because he told me it’s something i shouldn’t do..

i went to mexico a couple of years, a couple of months back
you know what i’m saying
and i was talking to a couple of friends that i had back then
started drinking having a good time
and my little brother got mad at my pops cause he didn’t get him something he wanted earlier and sh_t
and he told me something, well he told us something that caught my attention
he told me like “i hear that you always talk about your pops in your music complaining, kind of
like saying your dad wasn’t really blah blah blah”
and i was like “yeah, i don’t have the best relationship with my pops”
but he told me, he was like
“yo your dad he _ y’all over there in the us
y’all living a great life compared to how we do it down here”
and that made me think
he was just like “man, i used to come home from school and just hope we had something to eat
i’d drink me a cup of water and just hope that we had something in the fridge”
and i started to think about it
i complain about my pops as me being a youngster
my dad was always an assh0l_
i guess that’s just the way that he was raised
but he got us what we needed, know what i’m sayin
so pretty much just be thankful for what you got
be thankful for everything your parents give you
you may think that you may not have it
but you have it better than a lot of people out here
