is he not worthy?

gentle when he whispers, thundering when he shouts?

can you see his hair glimmer as white as snow?
can you feel the warmth of the bronze of his feet below?

he is the way, the truth and the master
he is the reason why we gather

and as we encounter his presence
earth is invaded by heaven

overcome and overwhelmed by the eminence of his majesty
as his word is revealed, becoming our reality

our lives collide with the waves of his story
awestruck, falling to his feet as we behold his glory

is he not worthy?
is he not worthy of our adoration? is he not worthy of every tribe and every nation?

though i cannot comprehend the vastness of his existence…
he is not a god who stands at a distance

as my gaze moves from the train of his robe to the fire in his eyes
he holds the keys of death in one hand, with the other on my shoulder, saying “do not be afraid”

for in this valley of dry bones our lives were laid
as christ took on the cross, darkness rejoiced in his death on display…

but the bones began to rattle, the ground began to shake
on a tree he was hung, but now his breath fills these lungs
as he rises, we are raised to our feet
flesh and bones revived with his very heart beat

is he not worthy?

for he has touched our lips with a coal
he has awakened the very depths of our soul

and since we bear such a hope we are fearless
for we cannot help ourselves of what we have witnessed

oh father, every people must taste this water flowing through your son
you’ve anointed these feet to carry what’s been won, so to the ends of the earth we will run

because eternity is closer than we know
we know he’s coming, he’s coming soon to lead us home

every knee will bow, every heart will burn, o god that every soul would turn
every eye will see & every tongue will confess that jesus christ is king

is he not worthy?

one day, we will join angels and saints
billions upon billions, circling the lion and the lamb
roaring with praise we will sing: “holy, holy, holy is the great i am”
