the boy and dude 2 look at each other

dude 2 runs to the front door just as it flies open and dude 1 opens fire on him

he’s probably dead. no time to find out for sure

the boy is suddenly running for the stairs

no pain. he missed?

he’s chasing him now. it feels like an episode of tom and jerry
the boy rushes into steve’s room and locks the door

banging

dude 1: you’re f-cked now!

the boy feels his heart pounding
he makes his way to the nightstand and picks up a cell phone
it’s dead

fumbling around, the boy finally manages to find a charger and runs into the bathroom, locking the door behind him
it takes a moment, but the phone lights up once plugged in. there’s no p-sscode

a large crashing sound comes from the other room. he must have kicked the door in

the boy types a number into the phone and waits

brrr… brrr… brrr…

fam’s voice: waddup, you’ve reached fam’s phone, leave –

the boy hangs up, then re-dials the number

banging on the bathroom door

dude 1: give it up!

fam’s voice: waddup, you’ve reached –

the boy hangs up, then dials a new number

bang. bang

dude 1 is kicking the door now

brrr… brrr… brrr…

the door gives in with a crash. the boy looks up as dude 1 fires twice, dropping the boy to the ground
the boy gasps, then sputters

naomi’s voice: hi, this is naomi. leave a message and i’ll get back to you as soon as possible

the boy almost smiles
