in life we are put in certain situations, whether they are good or bad, or whether they are convenient or against us. we can grow up with a family that is wealthy or have a family that is low resources. in whatever situation we are born, we need to keep our values and our morals. it does not matter in what situations we are put in, we have to -n-lyze and make the best decision for ourselves and others around us. our decisions can make a great impact. our actions will have good or bad consequences. roddy’s ambition and dunay’s desperation caused them to make poor decisions which elicited negative consequences
in the film “crime and punishment” we can observe the protagonist of the movie “rodya” who is a law student with little money. rodya lives with his sister and mother who cannot send them enough money. his sister desires to marry someone can help her family economically. in this film, rodya faces many challenges and he goes through many stages of distress. i noticed that he wanted to find a way to get money which causes his and his sister’s decisions go south. dunya forgets about her values as a women, she forgets the true meaning about marriage. she forgets it is essential to marry someone who you love. she is so desperate, that she marries someone for the simple fact that he has money. she thinks by doing so, her problems are going to get resolved. she is lying to herself and is blinded by having too much ambition
in the other hand, rodya had too much ambition that made him murder two people. what was going on through his head that made him take two people’s life away? we have to take in consideration that there are a lot of things going on with rodya. situations like this or this reality of not being able to provide enough money for the family can put someone in distress. especially, because he is a student. yet, there is no excuse for such thing, this is when we need to manage what we will do and balance ambition for the good
rodya is in a distress position where he does not know what to do, because he is at the starving point. he starts to p-wn the little bit of stuff to a p-wnbroker. i think p-wning your personal belongings to get money is a good idea rather than taking peoples belonging. apparently, p-wning a few items for rodya was not enough, he could have done a lot more to provide for his family, but he did not. he could have found other ways to find the money he needed or to survive while he was getting through his law school. next thing you know, he committed a crime! a crime! he k!lled the p-wnbroker
after the murders rodya commits with the p-wnbroker and her sister, he takes the p-wnbroker’s purse with all the viable items. this is what he believes is going to fix all the problems. but, he lied to himself! he thought his conscious was not going to chase after him. you cannot just murder someone, and expect for everything to go back reality. he deteriorates himself which is the process a person goes through when they know they did wrong. he starts to have sweaty dreams, he starts to see the p-wnbroker and his conscious does not let him alone. it was very bad were he ended up burying the purse with the values of the p-wnbroker. why did he do that? this are the actions a person that realizes he did wrong. he was not a thief. he did something that was going to be the solution but his decisions had a whole different reaction
i believe the moral or the message of the author in the film of “crime and punishment” is to emphasize the impact ambition can have on people. i know that having ambition is good! ambition is good to reach your goals. ambition is good to be successful in life and when you want to strive for the best in life. i also know that if you don’t balance ambition it can play games with your mind. you might find yourself in a stage where you think you need more, and that’s when you start putting for ideas in your head. then, you wonder how you can obtain those things that you want. we are humans and we make mistakes. we don’t always stop and think. the same thing happens to people who commit crime when they rob, when they k!ll, but this is why when you commit a crime, you will have to pay for the punishment. in this case, rodya k!lled a p-wnbroker. he took a bag that could have been worth a lot of money, but it ended up getting buried. why? because he did not earn that money. he did not earn that a clean way. he murdered two people. and on top of that, there was things in that bag that was taken unfairly from other poor people
another thing about this film was that dunya had to marry someone who she did not love. she played the role where she could marry a man with money. a man with money that could help support her family. in real life, this really happens. there is woman who have gotten marry for money. i believed that when someone gets married for money, they lose their values, their morals, their confidence and most importantly self-respect. dunya played a role where some woman think they have to get married for the simple fact that they are poor. ambition with balance is great. ambition can help us construct something good, or it can destroy something really good!
