and i said, “y’know what? let’s go rent a movie.” and on the way, i said, “y’know, i don’t understand. why do all of the channels play commercials at the same time? why don’t they, stagger them?”
and he said, “that’s just economics. competition makes everything the same.”
and i said, “competition makes everything the same? hey, that’s good. i’m gonna write a song about that.”

so i said, “wait a minute. competition fosters innovation. progressive companies develop new technologies, establish brand names, and distinguish themselves from their competitors. theoretically, this increases the number of choices available to consumers. otherwise, why bother having a logo?”
and when we arrived to the video store, i couldn’t find the french film i wanted to see. but, they did have an entire wall dedicated to four movies. one hundred copies of each. and each of these movies was about an individual, white male — wronged by the system — who takes the law into his own hands. exonerating himself, while single_handedly fighting police, terrorists, and the cia!
