[intro]
my n_gga trey, how you doing young king?
i’m good, how about you family?
i’m good, man, i heard you got some questions for me
yes sir! x, i wanna know, you been through h_lla, how does it feel in this point now?
man, that a good ass question, okay

[verse 1]
i was born on a clear night, no clouds, no rain
at methodist hospital, i gave her no pain
baby symbol with no mane
i was young and hard headed so that would fasho change
momma said i was destined to be a scholar and a king
when i was just a little boy without a dollar and a dream
on the south side of sac town, we never backed down
there’s a war going on outside, call it iraq, now
riding bikes through the gardens in the summertime
had to run from the cops over a hundred times
innocent, lost, we started hanging out
used to throw the hands ’til the shots started ringing out
first blood drawn, retaliation is a must
encouraged to do dirt, putting opp’s in the dust
momma sent me to texas, it was a timeout
but they was just like cali, pulling them nines out

[chorus]
i been through ups and downs tryna touch the crown
i been so high, i thought i’d never touch the ground
i did things that i regret, i feel disgusted now
that was along time ago, why discuss it now?
i found peace, it’s time to dust it now
my mind traumatized, i can’t even trust it now
blessed to see the type of money i been touching now
foreign whips, never catch me in a bucket now, no
[verse 2]
sent to alabama, thinking it was better
spend time with my father but rarely saw him if ever
it was warm outside but i was cold in a sweater
’cause my house was not a home, we were lonely together
eating eggs and baloney together
my childhood was filled with the stormiest weather
black cloud everywhere i went
got rained on, it didn’t matter where i’d sit
took that trauma back to sac with me
forgive me momma but i had to keep that strap with me
when they locked the homies up, the blocc was sad with me
standing ovations when they came home to clap with me
that was a awful psychology
i offer this apology sincerely cause i hope you can adapt with me
i need the little homies to embrace this life fact with me
it’s a marathon, not a sprint, run a lap with me

[chorus]
i been through ups and downs tryna touch the crown
i been so high, i thought i’d never touch the ground
i did things that i regret, i feel disgusted now
that was along time ago, why discuss it now?
i found peace, it’s time to dust it now
my mind traumatized, i can’t even trust it now
blessed to see the type of money i been touching now
foreign whips, never catch me in a bucket now, no
[outro]
knowing you’re influencing people, even people from your block and helping them grow, does it feel like you got that crown now?
man, my sensation is that it’s a whole lot of crowns out here, it’s a whole lot of kings out here and the bottom line is that everybody got the right to pursue their greatness, and so my hope is that i could be a source of motivation for other people that’s watching everything that i been through, everything i survived and they could take that and uh understand that they got a opportunity to be able to move forward too. they could overcome anything they been through, they could overcome any mistake they made, they not defined by their history, they not defined by their past, by their mistakes. you defined by the way you got it up, shook it off and kept it moving and at the end of the day that’s what you gon be remembered for, much love
