part i

[verse 1: traddawi]
how many words can i write til i run out of rhymes?
how many rhymes can i pen til i run out of schemes?
how many schemes can i pursue til i run out of logic?
how much logic can i have til i run into a wall?
a wall of confusion with my emotions falling apart
bringing along souls unwilling to love at the start
til they finally succ-mb and gimme a chance to part
ways with their fixated heart, even if it’s not smart
to run into warmth with open arms and then have no qualms
how many times can i write a verse about beautiful eyes?
how many eyes will keep reading when the ink goes dry?
will i keep writing about myself while ignoring issues that matter?
like injustice, palestine, syria, gl-ss ceilings you can’t shatter
due to inequality, and other lines that’ll make you sadder?
am i an artist stuck between genres of rap?
or am i too asinine to realise that i’m trapped

[chorus: ali]
self doubt, over me
and for now, no one sees
lives a man, on his own
oversees, words i vow
when you f-cked up, now my shoulders crown
self doubt, over me
and for now, no one sees
lives a man, on his own
oversees, words i vow
now you f-cked up, and i’ll show you how

[verse 2: traddawi]
how much ink will i waste until she begins to understand?
that these words are meant for her across her lifespan
how many times will i fall and rewind the same mistakes?
how many mistakes does it take before i can state
true thoughts and desires, that are forbidden by fate?
how much longer will fate continue to divide?
when will religion stop putting us on opposing sides?
when will i stop asking questions old as time?
how much time do i have? when will i stop looking back?
back home, i long for that, december, the best for last
facts that i never spoke, letters that i never wrote
perception of a being that can wield a pen like a sword
sometimes i know all i have to say is dear lord
thank you for the life i’ve lived, people i’ve met
critics i have crossed, reach that i’ve set
my words that are ignored by many, loved by few
my actions misunderstood by plenty, judged by you
the joy in my life today, and the misery too
love yourself or you’ll never understand your value
remember to always put yourself first in your milieu
how many lives will i touch with every hip hop song?
how many songs will i write before i say what’s wrong?
how many times will your response be “okay”?
whenever you get asked how was your day?

[chorus: ali]
self doubt, over me
and for now, no one sees
lives a man, on his own
oversees, words i vow
when you f-cked up, now my shoulders crown
self doubt, over me
and for now, no one sees
lives a man, on his own
oversees, words i vow
now you f-cked up, and i’ll show you how

part ii

[verse: traddawi]
which is quite ironic if you ask him, “everything’s fine”
but the truth laced within the lie of that line
is he lost his twin and grandmother in the same d-mn month
taken him about 3 years to recover from feeling numb
you know the expression, god giveth and god taketh away
if you ask him he’ll say, it’s god taketh and taketh and taketh away
depression he never admitted, a lot on his mind but he kept it in it
laughs less and then gets mistaken by glad fools as boring
enforcing then endorsing his lack of endorphins, therefore when
he takes your favourite rapper’s beat, you won’t ignore him
and why is it that every girl he likes is caught in her feelings
or stuck trying to find herself, or going through some transition
or she lacks self love and has low self esteem
or tries to -n-lyse his psyche and halts his dream
he then thinks to himself “maybe it’s not them it’s me”
“maybe i’m dumb and naive” for he believes what’s unreal
but he asked 21 questions in this song but he’s not fifty
the answer to each is clear, no diplomatic immunity
he’s so grown everyday he reaches a new level of maturity
spend time on his own enough to know nothing’s for sure really
he doesn’t have time for games, in fact he’s done a 360
you always think your x is the one, but the next gen then surely
comes along and you forget swiftly, comes back again quickly
stuck in limbo, what do you then do, he says “don’t f-ck with me”
now all these trials and tribulations made him an aficionado
his reach stretches from down under all the way to chicago
he’s a mad man who’ll break bad and is a sure lock to dump you in fargo
he’ll go farther when challenged, like when asked to rhyme star bucks
and he went “don’t be star struck, i’ll take no short cuts, it’s hard but
for heart love, i’ll start up, i’m raw rough, your awe struck, i’m smart, what?
your heart’s f-cked, new starts ups, are a hard trust, school of hard knocks
where darth must, star wars f-ck, i mark blood, your card’s cut
it’s hard plus, your guard hut, its door shuts, ahhh f-ck!
but don’t worry, it took only six months to join the elite
went from rhymin covers, to writin and spittin his own heat
through it all he remains unconquered, destroys every beat
n0body can compete, but will you take a backseat
or play your part when unconquered drops, put it on repeat
take it all in, listen to every word he wrote and rhyme scheme
designed to make you really think and ponder and dream
21 questions and he figures the answer to all of them is “you”
so he leaves one final question for everyone else to come through
will you let hip hop die on february the 9th?
