well, i wonder, if it has plagued so many of you, the way it has plagued me, why it is that all the songs about pirates involve faliure. (crowd: arrrrrr)

why is it that in all the songs, all the pirates end up walking the plank or getting eaten by sharks or dismasted or dismembered or just generally mis_done_by

it always seemed to me, that for all the drunken sailors and for all the barrett’s privateers of this world that there were probably a lot of successful pirates out there making a living at it. otherwise, why would so many of them have been out there?

and i_ i think actually, we have evidence that_ that there were successful pirates in those days. their descendants live, to this day, in the senate

so it seemed that it might be appropriate to have a song about successful piracy. not that we’re promoting it or anything but it’s just fun to say arrrrrr!
