you people have a lot of music to absorb this afternoon
and i might be honest with you and tell you that
you’re actually gonna take a bath of music here
we are located here in de jong concert hall
located in the franklin harris center of fine arts
at brigham young university in provo, utah
this is probably one of the most beautiful concert halls in the world
and we’ve got one of the most beautiful audiences in the world, and uh
_applause_
psychiatry tells you that, uh
we must try to cultivate within ourselvеs a bit of self_love
in order to makе ourselves happy people
i must say i think you people are ridiculous to applaud, applaud yourself
we’ve chosen some music here to start with
we always kind of believe that we should let you kind of study the situation
to decide really whether you want to go through with it or not
rather than have us just get up here
and unleash an avalanche of sound at you
this music has a little bit of history to it
this was originally commissioned by roger schueler of millikin university
for his lab band, jazz ensemble group by bill holman
so we felt it was such an important piece of music
we’d like to help call attention to it
this is bill holman’s composition titled “málaga”
