we’re all insurrectionists, but let god be true

god, he can take one of two approaches
and both are in line with his attributes
even though they’re very different, let’s unpack this truth
approach number one, we can call that the law
extremely bad news for all since the fall
it breaks all the devil’s projects, plus this
it makes all rebels objects of his justice
step in his path? we’re forgetting the math
the great king, he just sits in the heavens and laughs
with his weapon he blasts insurrectionists fast
saints and angels forever praising his perfection of wrath
approach number two, we can call that the gospel
surprising approach for the lost who are hostile
those who try to invert the potter and the clay
though he’s the one we dishonor every day
in jesus, the son, the gospel is the way
we see the love of god the father on display
in sending his son, who went to the cross for our punishment
fulfilling the abrahamic covenant—i’m loving it
for all people struggling with deeds that are bubbling
evil thoughts flooding in—that’s equally troubling
don’t beef with his government or change the meaning of love again
but receive comfort when it’s the redeemer you trusting in
jesus is covered in much grace and sympathy
he paid the penalty, and raised so splendidly
so we can trust the savior to shape our identity
we were made fundamentally to praise him endlessly
