that’s the gospel that has saved me, i trust that it has saved you
and we’ll fellowship together forever with the same god that we pray to
the next thing you should know is that i’m african_american
you might see me as “colored” or “other” like samaritans
were seen by the jews, you might be squeamish by the news
i’ve researched your whole life and screened all your views
if that sounds frightening and gets your chest tightening
please know i come in peace, i hope this is enlightening

in a perverse maneuver, you supported herbert hoover
a person who refused to make lynching illegal
that’s simply evil, the lethal fruit of “separate but equal”
which you think is biblical, something god has fixed

a student at your school by the name of billy graham
is gonna say he wants to transfer, which you’ll call a silly plan
god will use him greatly, but you will separate
which is a huge mistake, in part cause he’ll refuse to segregate

almost a hundred years later, and your school is still around
but some things have happened that you wouldn’t have permitted
three years after you die, black students will be admitted
after that, it will take almost another generation
for your grandson to allow so_called “interracial” dating
the most blatant repudiation of your present hatred
2008 when your great_grandson releases a statement
denouncing the ideas you stick to right now
saying you were not being faithful to scripture right now
if this convicts you that your present view is empty

and make your future students truly proud of their alma mater
