deep within vostok lake, beneath the antarctic station
breaching the frozen surface, drilling through the icy core
we discovered a new species, unlike anything ever seen
a 38 foot long 14 tentacled squid like creature

the first day it disabled our radio
intentionally cutting off our communication
but how were we to know this was only the beginning

then while diving in the lake we were attacked by the beast
rеleasing its venom into the watеr, paralyzing its prey
as it approached one of our colleagues, grabbing a hold of him
it used its arms to tear off his head and ate all that remained

the creature began to stalk our group for several diving missions
as it watches us, from afar, knowing that we had no idea
shifting its shape like one of us, looking like a diver in scuba gear
once we realized it wasn’t one of us, it grabbed and tore him to pieces

escaping the creature, one of our team managed to cut off one of its tentacles
bringing it back to the station, the severed limb came back to life

then coming after the same person who cut it off like new
in its own mind to get revenge, wrapping around her neck and k!lling her

finally trapping the creature in a tank, securing it from us
knowing that it had k!lled several members of my own team
now the danger had subsided now that it had been contained
when we returned with the creature it was taken never to be seen again
