miles edgeworth [spoken]:
yanni yogi wanted revenge on the two men who ruined his life. robert hammond, who convinced him to plead insanity—and, i have just realized, on me. i—i didn’t want to believe it, but if yanni yogi was not the k!ller in dl_6, everything becomes perfectly clear. the murderer, the real criminal of the dl_6 incident…it was me!

crowd [sung]:
ohhhhhhhhh!
never have we seen before
a man who’s been declared not guilty
turn around and ask for more
confessing to a different guilt, he’s
admitted to his crime (the judge [spoken]: order!)
i told you he was slime (judge [spoken]: order!)
he won’t go free this time

judge [spoken]:
order! order!

[simultaneous 1:]

edgeworth:
your honor! i wish to confess my guilt in the case of the murder of gregory edgeworth, the statute of limitations of which ends today!

[simultaneous 2:]

crowd [sung]:
the murder of his father
fifteen years ago
the unsolved case dl_6
now we’ll finally know…
[simultaneous end]

crowd:
who k!lled gregory edgeworth?
was yanni yogi wrongly accused?
who k!lled gregory edgeworth?
how has justice been abused?

judge [spoken]:
order! order!
i confess, this incident is completely unprecedented…i—i’m not certain how to proceed—

manfred von karma:
it is simple, your honor. we hold a trial. right here. right now

judge:
er. very well. is the prosecution prepared?

von karma:
always, your honor

judge:
and the defense?

edgeworth:
i’m sorry, wright. i’ve wasted all your effort. you don’t need to stay__
phoenix wright:
i need a moment to get my case ready, your honor

maya fey:
nick, what case? mr. edgeworth’s already confessed!

phoenix:
i know. edgeworth, i don’t believe you

edgeworth;
wh_what?

phoenix:
a dream isn’t evidence _ but this is. i’ll prove your innocence. trust me. i’m not giving up on you just yet
the defense is ready, your honor!

crowd [sung]:
who k!lled gregory edgeworth?
did the son orphan himself?
the case is set to expire today
if they don’t solve it now, it’ll die up on a shelf!

judge [spoken]:
very well. [gavel]
court is now in session for the trial of miles edgeworth
von karma:
fifteen years ago, you mistakenly k!lled your father, gregory edgeworth, in this very courthouse. testify about this matter to the court

crowd [sung]:
he’s already confessed
what else is there to say?
he k!lled gregory edgeworth!

edgeworth [spoken]:
that day, i had gone to the courthouse to observe one of my father’s trials. i don’t recall very much…except that my father lost, and mr. von karma was the prosecuting attorney

crowd [sung]:
von karma was there fifteen years ago
as gregory edgeworth’s courtroom foe
what a coincidence, who could have guessed
fifteen years later, he’s here for the son’s arrest

edgeworth [spoken]:
as we went to leave, an earthquake struck, trapping us in the elevator with the bailiff, yanni yogi. we were fine at first, but as time passed and no one came to help, my father and mr. yogi began to argue. just then, something heavy fell at my feet: the bailiff’s pistol

phoenix:
hold it! did you know at the time that it was a pistol?

edgeworth:
i don’t know if i knew what it was, but i…i think i knew it was dangerous. but the air was so thin, and they were fighting—i panicked. i picked it up and threw it at mr. yogi. i heard a single gunshot, and a terrible scream. that’s all i can remember. i wasn’t even sure of that until today

crowd [sung]:
a gun in the hands of a panicked child
can he be blamed if the shot went wild?
a single gunshot, a single scream
with the lack of oxygen, could it have been a dream?

phoenix [spoken]:
hold it! edgeworth. you’re sure you only heard one gunshot?

edgeworth:
yes. there’s nothing else. my next memory is of waking up in the hospital

phoenix:
i’ve got you, edgeworth. i’ve got you
ladies and gentlemen of the court. miles edgeworth recalls only one gunshot. and yet this police report states that the murder weapon was fired twice. furthermore, this photograph of the crime scene shows two bullet holes—one in the heart of gregory edgeworth, another in the elevator door. i ask you—where did this second bullet hole come from?

crowd [sung]:
a bullet hole each in the victim and the door
two gunshots recorded, no less and no more
little edgeworth fainted after hearing just one
who else was there who could’ve fired the gun?
who k!lled gregory edgeworth?

phoenix [spoken]:
the first shot, fired accidentally by miles edgeworth, struck the elevator door. at this point, miles fell unconscious. therefore, the second shot _ the shot that k!lled gregory edgeworth _ must have been fired by someone else!

judge:
but who could this someone else be?

phoenix:
the real murderer, of course!

crowd [sung]:
who k!lled gregory edgeworth?
the bailiff said it wasn’t him
the son’s memory is clearly dim
who k!lled gregory edgeworth?

von karma [spoken]:
objection. i knew i should have stepped in before your wild fantasies got out of hand. mr. wright. let me call your attention once more to that little case file you love so much. right there, on the very first page—what does it say?

phoenix:
“no other evidence was found at the scene”?

von karma:
precisely. no second bullet was found in that elevator

phoenix:
but the bullet hole—!

von karma:
might have been made at any time

phoenix:
what!?

crowd [sung]:
without a second bullet, the case falls apart
only one was found in gregory edgeworth’s heart
if the gun was fired once, not twice as wright proposed
then miles edgeworth must have done it and the case is clearly closed
he k!lled gregory edgeworth!

von karma [spoken]:
your honor, i’m sorry to have wasted the court’s time with this farce of a cross_examination. we are done here

judge:
…i must say, it seems the prosecution is correct. no objections, mr. wright? mr. edgeworth?

edgeworth:
none, your honor. everything von karma has said is true

maya:
…nick!

judge:
miles edgeworth, you confess to k!lling your father?

edgeworth:
yes

maya:
nick! turn this thing around!

[simultaneous 1:]

phoenix [sung]:
it feels as though i have been here before
on the day i first entered the courtroom war
i know i should be saying so many things
but my mind’s gone blank and i can’t begin to think…

maya:
not yet! object!
for mr. edgeworth’s sake
come on! be strong!
don’t let your spirit break

mia fey/maya:
not yet! object! (phoenix [spoken]: what!? mia!?)
don’t let him get away / don’t let it end this way

[simultaneous 2:]

crowd:
we know who k!lled gregory edgeworth…

crowd (edgeworth):
he k!lled gregory edgeworth
an accident, but a crime nonetheless
he k!lled his own father (i k!lled my own father)
(i k!lled him, i confess)

he k!lled gregory edgeworth
an accident, but a crime in the end

[end simultaneous]

mia:
the second bullet
must have been carried away

phoenix [spoken]:
carried away…by the murderer!?

crowd [sung]:
who k!lled gregory edgeworth?
who fired the gun?
there’s only one
the case is done

von karma [spoken]:
your honor, it’s time for the verdict

crowd [sung]:
who k!lled gregory edgeworth?
his son!
