started out as malcolm little
born in omaha, in the country’s middle
young and black kid, his outcome looked futile
when the kkk shot his dad, yeah they k!lled him
then his family moved to detroit the motor city
this the early thirties, there wasn’t much pity
where he was headed those roads wasn’t pretty
just living fast getting nowhere quickly
as a juvenile red_headed running streets
so he moved to boston then to nyc
he found more ways to end up in morе grief
he got arrestеd six years til his release
but while in prison, came a chance to read
and a look within to find a new belief
that black unity must increase
he joined the nation of islam upon his release

so he studied under elijah muhammad
became a teacher, thinker, debater, and scholar
worked hard for the cause and the fight for black conscious
with one hand movement he could stop a riot
taught us to have pride in being black
and that history’s full of lies, not the facts
taught us to make it happen and not react
and until we mentally free to not relax
they bombed his house that still didn’t stop him
so yeah i’m gone say it, i love you brother malcolm
if you were still alive there would be another outcome
on the podium of your shoulders is where i’m gone shout from
m_a_l_c_o_l_m_x
in your honor i will never rest
from then til now til everyday next
i will do my best to help those oppressed, yes

he taught about politics and being racist
and to think for yourself, not just take it
so the media made him an image of hatred
because he pointed out the flaws of a nation
he traveled city to city opening mosques
teaching self_respect and how to survive
he would never let the wool be pulled over his eyes
broke ties with n.o.i after making his hajj
he knew to end oppression was the solution
by any means meant it take revolution
no more sit_ins we stand up shooting
to the tunes of self_improvement
malcolm knew this and practiced discipline
he fought for the movement and understood differences
so as the spirit move me, i hope you’re listening
this my way of saying thanks for the great things you did
