the story starts in august out of sight out of mind

so we practiced in my bas_m_nt and went banging on the drums
layered all the tracks and heard it back through the subs
played it for our friends everybody bobbed their heads
house parties were our kingdom till the clubs became a trend

such is so is life when you’re growing up so fast
you’re trying to take it in before the cycle starts to crash

you’ll never find those dreams in the back of the club

what once served as a drug is now not even enough
he went searching for his happiness and said its in love
when he came up empty handed he would slip into sorrow
a man of the moment became a man of tomorrow
and what about the music it seems we have taken a break
but you gotta stay focused that’s how you make it today
mediocrity became more favourable than fame
it was the creaking cry of adulthood that scared him straight

now he’s sleeping on ambition works the 9_5
thinking back on days when he could have changed his life
tells the story to his kids and his wife
