apparently, there is some sort of connection between the last three projects and the most recent project of chicago mc, mick jenkins

mick is a socially conscious rapper who made his big splash with his 2014 mixtape, the water[s]. because of this, he gained a strong fan base and has even went on to drop his next project, an ep titled wave[s]. not only does his flow, lyrics, content, and even his whole sound take a different tide, he also attempts to show to his audience that he is capable of completing music from a whole different side of the spectrum. but the question here is how do all of these projects connect, what is the so called storyline between these four projects. let’s examine certain categories of this connection first

foreshadowing:

mick has featured a certain level of foreshadowing between all of these projects. i think this is important in understanding the connection aspect of this theory. let’s start with “noah’s and the reign’s” hook:

they say there’s gon’ be a downpour
(they say there’s gon’ be a downpour)
they say the water’s gon’ wash away my people
(they say the water gon’ wash us away, no)
everybody gon’ need a boat
(everybody gon’ need a boat)
they say there’s gon’ be a downpour
(they say there’s gon’ be a downpour)

mick describes here that soon there is going to be some sort of downpour, and even says that “the waters” gon’ wash away my people, everybody gon’ need a boat. this connects directly to his next project, the water[s]. it continues:

you probably gon’ need a boat
i’m thinking kindred to titanic, like why panic

the first song on the water[s] features the exact rhyme as well as a similar concept:

i’ve been in these waters like the titanic
waves crashed down, you would’ve thought a nigga drowned, but i’m staring at the sky like, “why panic?”
