thank you very much. you know in setting up our afternoons at monterey, we have devoted one afternoon usually to exploring new forms in jazz. twenty_five years ago we started a band down in balboa beach, stan kenton, and i don’t think i’ve ever been as thrilled since then. so ladies and gentlemen, i would like to have you greet one of the most brilliant sounds in the big band business i’ve ever heard. the gentleman responsible for it, ladies and gentlemen, don ellis and his orchestra. don ellis.
