dougie’s dead six weeks after mikе
we never saw his pain
til he took a 40 caliber bullet and he put it through his brain
and we will never know why
he didn’t leave a note

mama died years ago
she died on the east coast
she died in the piedmont hills
when the cancer took it’s toll
she’s a good west virginia girl
she’s buried back home
buried on family land

he retired just in time for
