[hook: cameron dukes]
you can try to run but you cannot hide
what the bible says you should feel inside
do you love the least of these, least of these?
do you love the least of these, least of these?
we be saying god is good all the time
but don’t let that grace make you think he’s blind
do you love the least of these, least of these?
do you love the least of these, least of these?

[verse 1: curt kennedy]
i find myself riding through the city on my own
and i remember nights where things was getting gritty
always had a pistol with me and ready for whatever
except when bullets fly, i wasn’t ready for forever
if i died i knew i wasn’t good enough to ever make it
i understood his grace but then would underestimate it
i’m living in the matrix and don’t got no blue pill
but got a chrome 9 that holds 17 i call steel
i was told to keep it real and blast it high when i’m aiming
’til in a prison cell i felt a chill when jesus came in
my life, it started changing but i had a lot of thug in me
but was overwhelmed by jesus christ and his love for me
things were getting better, though i had a lot of enemies
walking through the mall i saw them all, ain’t no pretend in me
we gon’ get it in, youngun, we beefing in this joint
then i thought of god’s love and asked myself, ain’t that the point?
[hook: cameron dukes]
you can try to run but you cannot hide
what the bible says you should feel inside
do you love the least of these, least of these?
do you love the least of these, least of these?
we be saying god is good all the time
but don’t let that grace make you think he’s blind
do you love the least of these, least of these?
do you love the least of these, least of these?

[verse 2: curt kennedy]
i been observing the church for a very long time
agree of disagree with me but i’ve been steady on my grind
pouring out my heart i’ve tried to show you things i’d find
while you just get to post what songs you like and think you’ll get behind
we love to criticize all the beats and pick at rhymes
but for me it’s always deeper than how clever are my lines
especially when i’m trying to show us where we’re blind
no, i don’t got all the answers but at least i’m out here trying
i see people really crying, i see people straight divided
and many are reformed, it’s clear that love is not our sign
we forgot the fundamentals, so we focus on our doctrine
’cause it’s easier to read and fake ’em out, we run the option
this blindness is too often, i think god let all this happen
just to show us that we’re far from imitating him in action
what we need to do is go to 2nd kings and read 22
and say that lord, we have forsaken you
[hook: cameron dukes]
you can try to run but you cannot hide
what the bible says you should feel inside
do you love the least of these, least of these?
do you love the least of these, least of these?
we be saying god is good all the time
but don’t let that grace make you think he’s blind
do you love the least of these, least of these?
do you love the least of these, least of these?
you can try to run but you cannot hide
what the bible says you should feel inside
do you love the least of these, least of these?
do you love the least of these, least of these?

but don’t let that grace make you think he’s blind
do you love the least of these, least of these?
do you love the least of these, least of these?

[outro: curt kennedy]
“all right. so we’re just about done here, man. i just wanna take a second and thank all of you for listening to the appendix. i know it was a lot of material, a lot to sort through and work through. so i want to first thank you for giving it all your attention, for purchasing this album. thank you so much for doing that. also wanted to take a quick second and make sure i just kinda sum everything up because it was so much material, so much information. it can easily be lost in the shuffle. so let me just say a couple things for you to understand the point i was trying to make. my vision for this project was trying to answer two questions: how did we get here, and why is god allowing this to happen? and the answer to those questions are simply this: we got here because the church in america has historically based its teaching on believing and faith in jesus christ but have demonstrated, essentially, acting like the devil __ allowing for racism, allowing for slavery, allowing for a lot of evils is what the church has done. and so the reputation of the church has been so badly damaged that you got people professing to believe in christianity but are agreeing with g_y marriage. so i think we’ve gotten here because of all the evils the church has done, and to be honest, there’s really been no consequences for that. a lot of people are offended right now because they saying, man, you bringing up old stuff, but what’s really happening is that i think the lord is allowing this old stuff to come up because it’s never really been sufficiently dealt with. you know, the jews had the nuremburg trials in 1940s where they were vindicated for the crimes against them by an international war court, but black people got a document in 1964 that said everything’s okay. and we know after that, you know, we know that that wasn’t the reality. so again, i’m not saying that all this, everything’s about systemic racism and white people have privilege and all that, what i’m saying is this is a real problem that the church has allowed for. we’ve inherited that. like, we can’t be separated from that if you’re a christian. so what i think the lord is doing, i think god is really exposing the church. he’s judging us for being unloving and not loving our neighbor as ourselves and making faith and understanding of doctrine more important than loving our neighbors. and so here we have ourselves in a culture where you got people who are unreconciled __ they’re unreconciled with jesus but trying to reconcile people together. so you’ve got black lives matter, metoo movement, and all this stuff that are trying to bring reconciliation without the cross. and then you’ve got believers arguing over social justice who are supposed to be reconciled but are actually unreconciled at the cross. you’ve got god exposing us by having who are not even believers trying to be reconciled, and you’ve got the church, which is supposed to be reconciled, acting like unbelievers. so i think that needs to change, and i think one of the things that need to change, it would be a good thing to do if we read 2nd kings 22 and focused on josiah’s response when he heard the law. his heart was broken about what his ancestors had did; he understood that he inherited, he inherited an ancestry of unfaithfulness, and he’s in the consequences of that. i think if you are a christian and you’re brutally honest, you’ve inherited an ancestry of unfaithfulness to god in the church. and here’s where we’re at now. you know, we could do a lot of conferences on loving your neighbor as yourself. i think it would go a long way. so you take what you want, you agree to disagree on it, that’s good, i gave you my heart. i gave you what i could. thank you so much for listening. this is curt kennedy signing out. it’s the appendix.”
