c.o.t.i. (captains of the imagination) - original shape (poem) lyrics
[dr koul]
i speak rhizomes in freestyle poems that leave my dome
to meet my opponent with greetings and eyes open
a wise omen to those who tried roaming too close to the wide open
but chose to confine others to lines closed
it’s a fine road that we trod and fall off from
lie to cope with lack of self_love that we laugh off
we tie a rope to our dreams, dying of sad thoughts
defeatist i am not, the foetus of mad love
is born from a war_torn tone_deaf sound of a bomb dropped
in a sworn oath to never a abandon hope
rolling rock like a band on road, ever stoned without a gram of coke
we demand our cut of grandma’s rolls
never over in graves, we came over from caves
to so_called civilization and we lost all of our hard_earned greatness
under tar roads paved, where a car drove for ages to far_off places
and still lost the amazon to corporate waste
copy and paste as we carry on sampling grace
aiming for outer_sp_ce with a culture we re_create
we will be saved by our innocence
placed here as middle men between what we planted and ate
we are the children of fate, we never planned on change
but now adapt to return back to our original shape
it’s called hip hop
