daniel shay

a veteran that came home from the war
he was in debt
but what for
he was a victim of the tax
he and every other farmer
had realized that
they needed a plan
so in fact
in the summer and fall
of that year
1200 went to the court
so they could hear
the farmers wants and needs
if the courts closed down
then they would leave

but that ain’t happen

but then things had got out of hand
shay led a mob action on the land
fought a bunch of militia men

between farmer and government
there was a lot of tension
the rebellion brought a lot of attention
to the weak government we lived in
this led to the first convention
hmm james of virginia had initiated
the whole thing but only 5 partic-p-ted
so he went ahead and waited
(and waited)
shay’s rebellion spread through the states
by the next convention
there were 12 delegates
that’s why we need shay’s rebellion
it helped us notice the flaws of the articles of confederation
the rebellion was justification
for its revision or replacement…

but what if

daniel shay had got the courts to close
there would have been
no mob in the snow
no ratification of the const-tution
only problems
with no solution
a foe might have taken advantage
of our government that was weak
sooner than later the nation
might have reached its peek

hopefully
