when a friend made a promise

and thank him for doing what he said

this world is filled
with trouble and turmoil
nation fights nation
kin against kin
and sometimes i find myself
asking the question
who is in charge?
will it all ever end?
then i remember
the sweet words of jesus
saying, “child, you are never alone
for i am the one
who spoke worlds into being
and i am still in control”
he promised i would never be forsaken
and i’ve never seen god fail
to meet a need that i had
when my life down here is over

and thank him for doing what he said
